So. if  a certain trait of an organism is adapted according to the environment, its population will thrive and increase in size by reproducing. Here in this case, if a flock's beak type of generation 1 make it easier for them to pick up food, they will eventually survive and reproduce( their generation will grow). However, if their beak type make them harder to pick up food, their flock will not be able to survive hence wont reproduce and their number will decrease.
