First case:

average of test score =70

number of students =p

total score of 'p' students = ( average of test score)*( number of students)

total score of 'p' students =70p

Second case:

average of test score =92

number of students =n

total score of 'n' students = ( average of test score)*( number of students)

total score of 'n' students =92n

total number of students = p+n

total average score =86

so, total score =86(p+n)

total score = total score of 'p' students +total score of 'n' students

86(p+n)=70p+92n

now, we can simplify it

86p+86n=70p+92n

86p-70p=92n-86n

16p=6n

now, we can find p/n

\frac{p}{n}= \frac{6}{16}

\frac{p}{n}= \frac{3}{8}................Answer

Answer:

A rational exponent is an exponent that is a fraction. If the fraction has an even denominator, the root will be of an even number (like the square root, the 4th root, etc.). Think about it when you square something: -2 • -2 = 4, 2 • 2 = 4. No matter the sign, any number multiplied by itself an even number of times will make a positive number. So, you can't take the square root of a negative number because it is impossible to get a negative number when squaring! This applies to ALL even roots/exponents. So, (-1)^½ does not exist! Look: (-1)^½ becomes √(-1) which is an imaginary number!

A boy has 11 coins in dimes and quarters. Their value is $1.70. How many of each does he have? Which of the following equations
8090 [49]
X - number of dimes, y - number of quarters
x + y = 11
0.10 x + 0.25 y = 1.70
0.10 x + 0.25 ( 11 - x ) = 1.70
you can solve it:
0.10 x + 2.75 x - 0.25 x  = 1.70
0.15 x = 1.05
x = 1.05 : 0.15
x = 7  ( a boy has 7 dimes and 4 quarters )
Answer: 0.10 x + 0.25 ( 11 - x ) = 1.70

James buys a shirt and a pair of of socks on sale for 25% off. If the price of the shirt before the sale was $24 and he spent a
Eva8 [605]

Answer:

8 dollars

Step-by-step explanation:

Define the variable X as:

X = Original Price of the Socks, in units dollars

Then,

(X + 24)(100% - 25%) = 24

(X + 24)(0.75) = 24

X = (24/0.75) - 24 = 8 dollars.
