3 girls get volunteer hours.

Katie, Elizabeth, and Siobhan voluenteer at the hospital. In a week, Katie volunteers 3 hours more than Elizabeth does and Siobhan volunteers 1 hour less than Elizabeth. Over 3 weeks, the number of hours Katie volunteers is equal to the sum of Elizabeth's and Siobhan's volunteer hours in 3 weeks.

We know nothing about Elizabeth hours, so that is where you assign the variable.

Elizabeth = X

Katie = X+3

Siobhan = X -1

Assuming this holds true over 3 weeks,

3(x+3) = 3X + 3(x-1)

3x + 9 = 3x + 3x - 3

3x + 9 = 6x - 3

0 = 6x - 3 - 3x - 9

0 = 3x - 12

12 = 3x

x=4

in one week:

Elizabeth volunteers 4 hours

Katie volunteers 7 hours

Siobhan volunteers 3 hours

over three weeks:

Elizabeth volunteers 12 hours

Katie volunteers 21 hours

Siobhan voluteers 9 hours

21 = 12 + 9, so yes it checks.

Four times the largest of three consecutive odd integers is 36 more than the sum of the other
erica [24]

If you know how to solve word problems involving the sum of consecutive even integers, you should be able to easily solve word problems that involve the sum of consecutive odd integers. The key is to have a good grasp of what odd integers are and how consecutive odd integers can be represented.

Odd Integers

If you recall, an even integer is always 22 times a number. Thus, the general form of an even number is n=2kn=2k, where kk is an integer.

So what does it mean when we say that an integer is odd? Well, it means that it’s one less or one more than an even number. In other words, odd integers are one unit less or one unit more of an even number.

Therefore, the general form of an odd integer can be expressed as nn is n=2k-1n=2k−1 or n=2k+1n=2k+1, where kk is an integer.

Observe that if you’re given an even integer, that even integer is always in between two odd integers. For instance, the even integer 44 is between 33 and 55.

A quadrilateral can be inscribed in a circle, if and only if, the opposite angles in that quadrilateral are supplementary.
balandron [24]

The cyclic quadrilateral's opposing angles are 180 degrees, which become supplementary angles.

<h3>What is a cyclic quadrilateral?</h3>

If the quadrilateral is inscribed in a circle then the quadrilateral is known as a cyclic quadrilateral.

A quadrilateral can be inscribed in a circle, if and only if, the opposite angles in that quadrilateral are supplementary.

We know that the sum of the opposite angles of the cyclic quadrilateral is equal to 180 degrees.

Supplementary angle - Two angles are said to be supplementary angles if their sum is 180 degrees.

More about the cyclic quadrilateral link is given below.

1. Two thousand dollars is invested at 5.5 percent interest compounded
Dafna11 [192]

Two thousand dollars is invested at 5.5 percent interest compounded

quarterly for 2 years. Then the amount is $ 2230.88

<u>Solution:</u>

Given that Two thousand dollars is invested at 5.5 percent interest compounded  quarterly for 2 years

<em><u>The formula for amount using compounded quarterly is given as</u></em>:

\text { Amount }=P\left(1+\frac{R / 4}{100}\right)^{4 T}

Where, "p" is the principal sum

"R" is the rate of interest

"T" is the number of years

Here in this problem,

P = 2000 ; R = 5.5 ; T = 2 years

Plugging in values in formula we get,

\text {Amount}=2000\left(1+\frac{\frac{5.5}{4}}{100}\right)^{4 \times 2}

=2000\left(1+\frac{1.375}{100}\right)^{8}

On solving we get,

=2000(1+0.01375)^{8}=2000(1.11544)=2230.88

Hence the amount is $ 2230.88

The cost of 4 medium pizzas:

4 (x - 3)

Step-by-step explanation:

x = the cost of a large pizza

medium pizza costs $3 less than a large pizza. So it's x - 3

If 4 medium pizzas then it will be: 4 (x - 3)
