Standard of living refers to the level of income, material possession among others that are available to an average person which makes life comfortable.

The following are ways I can help improve the standard of living of farmers as an extension worker:

  1. Educate farmers on the need to adopt innovations that increases efficiency in farm production.
  2. Design demonstration fields where new improved ideas can be demonstrated to show farmers how they work.
  3. Organize agricultural literacy programs for farmers on how to make the best use of local resources in catering for their homes and living healthy.
  4. Visit farmers from time to time to encourage and ensure farmers are adopting new technologies that will improve their farm production and income.
  5. Serve as a link between farmers and research institute, in order to solve existing problems faced by farmers in their farms.
  6. Training of farmers on how to keep proper farm records.
  7. Provide up-to-date and reliable weather forecast for farmers.

The above listed ways among others, will ensure farm productivity and efficiency, which will in turn increase the income and standard of living of farmers as well as fight poverty.
