X intercept: when y = 0
y intercept: when x = 0
Plug info inside the equation
3x + 7(0) = 42
3x = 42, x = 14
Therefore, x intercept: (14,0)
3(0) + 7y = 42
7y = 42, y = 6
Therefore, y intercept: (0,6)

A quadratic equation of the form 0=ax2 bx c has a discriminant value of -16. how many real number solutions does the equation ha
Musya8 [376]

The given quadratic equation has no real solutions.

Given quadratic equation is:

ax^2+bx+c=0

What does the discriminant of a quadratic equation tell?

The discriminant(D) of a quadratic equation tells about the nature of roots.

If D > 0, the roots of the quadratic equation will be real and distinct.

If D=0, the roots of the quadratic equation will be real and equal.

If D < 0, the roots of the quadratic equation will be imaginary.

Given that the quadratic ax^2+bx+c=0 has a discriminant value of -16.

D=-16 < 0

So, the roots of the given quadratic equation will be imaginary.

So, the given quadratic equation has zero real solutions.

Hence, the given quadratic equation has no real solutions.
