The sentences are marked ironical and non-ironical as follows:

  • 1. Ironic
  • 2. Ironic
  • 3. Non-Ironic
  • 4. Non-ironic

As stated in the explanation, ironic statements are supposed to create a surprising effect because what is expected is not what happens in reality.

In the first statement, one would expect that the lady would have saved a considerable amount given the time she began saving, but that was not the case as she had saved just about two dollars by December.

The third statement is not ironic because it simply states how the man viewed the watch he had.

Which question does the adverb clause answer?
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]
Short answer: You are answering why?

Why doesn't she want to go out? She doesn't want to go out because she's in a very bad mood. She knows that she won't be good company.

Remark
The sentence after the ; (semicolon) does not begin with any kind of connective word. If you put a noun in place of she, you would see that the last part after the semicolon is a complete sentence.

Answer: Paragraph Response

Explanation:

Coates describes the importance of videogames in the modern world and there effect on the population playing them. He says, " Like most of my generation, I was raised on video games. Like most of my generation, I assumed that this obsession would pass at the proper time-say when I turned 30. But like most of my generation, I was wrong" this shows the reader that at the beginning, no one expected the impact of video games to be so enormous and continuous. Yet, they remain and are getting bigger and bigger as time passes. As the player grows and experiences life, the video games they play stay the same, youthful and fun, a never-ending portal back to childhood. Coates supports these points with his personal experiences with video games, making it clear to the reader what he believes.  It is a world of your creation, and the time spent in that virtual fantasy is priceless.
