Biology

Climate variability and change affects birdlife and animals in a number of ways; birds lay eggs earlier in the year than usual, plants bloom earlier and mammals are come out of hibernation sooner. Distribution of animals is also affected; with many species moving closer to the poles as a response to the rise in global temperatures. Birds are migrating and arriving at their nesting grounds earlier, and the nesting grounds that they are moving to are not as far away as they used to be and in some countries the birds don’t even leave anymore, as the climate is suitable all year round.

Answer:

With rising global temperatures, terrestrial organisms will face greater hazards in the forms of increasingly frequent and more severe meteorological conditions such as droughts, snow storms, heat waves, hurricanes, and melting glaciers and sea ice.

1.What is an example of a stable system?
Elina [12.6K]
An example of a stable system is a chemical reaction that is in equilibrium. A reaction at equilibrium has both forward and backward reactions in which the rate of forward reaction is equal to the rate of the backward reaction. The principle that governs equilibrium reaction is Le Chateliers principle.

In a population of 10,000 individuals of Monstera deliciosa, four individuals have a variegated phenotype that is caused by the
Mariulka [41]

Under the assumption of this population being in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium,<em> the </em><em>probability</em><em> for the</em><em> fixation</em><em> of the var </em><em>recessive allele </em><em>equals 0.02 = 2%</em>

--------------------------------

<u />

<u>Available data:</u>

  • N = 10,000 individuals ⇒ Large population
  • 4 individuals have a variegated phenotype
  • variegated phenotype is caused by the recessive var allele
  • No selection, no additional mutation ⇒ we can assume Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium

We need to know the probability for the fixation of the var allele.

We assume that the population is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, so there should be no evolution.

Since the population is in H-W equilibrium, the allelic, genotypic and phenotypic frequencies will remain the same generation after generation.

Now, we will calculate the allelic and genotypic frequencies of variegated individuals in the population.

There are<u> 10,000 individuals</u>, and only <u>4 have variegated.</u>

So, the phenotypic frequency, F(Var) is 4/10,000 = 0.0004 =<u> 0.4%</u>

Since this is a recessive phenotype, this value equals the genotypic frequency, F(vv) = <u>0.4%</u>

Finally, we can get the allelic frequency by taking the square root of this value.

F(vv) = q² = 0.0004

f(v) = q = √0.0004 = 0.02 = <u>2%</u>

According to these calcs, the probability for the fixation of the var allele is <u>2%</u>, and the probability that all individuals express the variegated phenotype is <u>0.4%</u>.

During which step of the stp process do marketers ask whether the segment is identifiable
butalik [34]

During Evaluate segment attractiveness step of the stp process marketers ask whether the segment is identifiable.

<h3><u>Explanation:</u></h3>

The term STP stands for segmentation, Targeting and Positioning. It is an important concept that is being applied to the field of marketing. An association between the market and how a company competed in that market is made by this STP process.

The process that is involving in the segmentation of the market, targeting the audience who should be given high focus and then creating a perception of the key features and the benefits of a product in the mind of the customers refers to the whole STP process. There are many steps associated with the STP process in which during the step called Evaluate segment attractiveness marketers ask whether the segment is identifiable.
