Answer:

y- intercept = - 6

Step-by-step explanation:

The y- intercept is where the graph crosses the y- axis.

Let x = 0 and substitute in to the equation, that is

y = 0² - 3(0) - 6 = 0 - 0 - 6 = - 6 ← y- intercept

Please help me, i'm trying to graduate!!!
Svet_ta [14]
If you use this equation then you say that the ground is h=0 and solve as a quadratic.
The quadratic formula is (-b±<span>√(b^2-4ac))/2a when an equation is in the form ax^2 + bx + c
So the equation you have been given would be -16t^2-15t-151 = 0
This equation has no real roots which leads me to believe it is incorrect.
This is probably where your difficulty is coming from, it's a mistake.

The equation is formed from S=ut+(1/2)at^2+(So) where (So) is the initial height and S is the height that you want to find.
In this case you want S = 0.
If the initial height is +151 and the initial velocity and acceleration are downwards (negative) and the initial velocity (u) is -15 and the initial acceleration is -32 then you get the equation S=-15t-16t^2+151

Solving this using the quadratic formula gives you t = 2.64 or t = -3.58
Obviously -3.58s can't be the answer so you're left with 2.64 seconds.

Hope this makes sense.

umka2103 [35]

Answer:

(-n^4 - 4 m^7 x^4 y^2)/(3 x^4)

Step-by-step explanation:

Simplify the following:

(-6 n^5 x^3)/(18 n x^7) + (12 m^8 y^6)/(-9 m y^4)

The gcd of -6 and 18 is 6, so (-6 n^5 x^3)/(18 n x^7) = ((6 (-1)) n^5 x^3)/((6×3) n x^7) = 6/6×(-n^5 x^3)/(3 n x^7) = (-n^5 x^3)/(3 n x^7):

(-1 n^5 x^3)/(3 n x^7) + (12 m^8 y^6)/(-9 m y^4)

Combine powers. (-n^5 x^3)/(3 n x^7) = (n^(5 - 1) x^(3 - 7) (-1))/3:

-(n^(5 - 1) x^(3 - 7))/3 + (12 m^8 y^6)/(-9 m y^4)

5 - 1 = 4:

-(n^4 x^(3 - 7))/3 + (12 m^8 y^6)/(-9 m y^4)

3 - 7 = -4:

-(n^4 x^(-4))/3 + (12 m^8 y^6)/(-9 m y^4)

The gcd of 12 and -9 is 3, so (12 m^8 y^6)/(-9 m y^4) = ((3×4) m^8 y^6)/((3 (-3)) m y^4) = 3/3×(4 m^8 y^6)/(-3 m y^4) = (4 m^8 y^6)/(-3 m y^4):

(4 m^8 y^6)/(-3 m y^4) - (n^4)/(3 x^4)

Combine powers. (4 m^8 y^6)/(-3 m y^4) = (4 m^(8 - 1) y^(6 - 4))/(3 (-1)):

-(n^4)/(3 x^4) + (4 m^(8 - 1) y^(6 - 4))/(-3)

8 - 1 = 7:

-(n^4)/(3 x^4) + (4 m^7 y^(6 - 4))/(-3)

6 - 4 = 2:

-(n^4)/(3 x^4) + (4 m^7 y^2)/(-3)

Multiply numerator and denominator of (4 m^7 y^2)/(-3) by -1:

-4/3 m^7 y^2 - (n^4)/(3 x^4)

Put each term in -(n^4)/(x^4×3) - (4 m^7 y^2)/3 over the common denominator 3 x^4: -(n^4)/(x^4×3) - (4 m^7 y^2)/3 = (-n^4)/(3 x^4) - (4 m^7 x^4 y^2)/(3 x^4):

-n^4/(3 x^4) - (4 m^7 x^4 y^2)/(3 x^4)

-n^4/(3 x^4) - (4 m^7 x^4 y^2)/(3 x^4) = (-n^4 - 4 m^7 x^4 y^2)/(3 x^4):

Answer: (-n^4 - 4 m^7 x^4 y^2)/(3 x^4)

What is the difference between the population and sample regression functions? Is this a distinction without difference?
GrogVix [38]

Answer:

See explanation below.

Step-by-step explanation:

When we want to fit a linear model given by:

y = \beta_0 + \beta_1 x

Where y is a vector with the observations of the dependent variable, \beta_0 , \beta_1 the parameters of the model and x the vector with the observations of the independent variable.

For this case this population regression function represent the conditional mean of the variable Y with values of X constant. And since is a population regression the parameters are not known, for this reason we use the sample data to obtain the sample regression in order to estimate the parameters of interest \beta_0, \beta_1

We can use any method in order to estimate the parameters for example least squares minimizing the difference between the fitted and the real observations for the dependenet variable.  After we find the estimators for the regression model then we have a model with the estimated parameters like this one:

\hat y = \hat b_0 +\hat b_1 x

With \hat \beta_0 = b_o , \hat \beta_1 = b_1

And this model represent the sample regression function, and this equation shows to use the estimated relation between the dependent and the independent variable.
