Answer:

Substitution

Step-by-step explanation:

Substitution would be favored of the methods because we are given the "value" of y (1/2x + 6 ) so we could easily substitute 1/2x + 6 for y into -2x + 4y = 24

Graphing could work but there is no need because we can easily substitute

Elimination is used when the constant of y and x in both equations are the same. no constant of x and y are the same in the context therefore elimination should not be used.

Using the variable x for unknown number what is five more than the quotient of a number and 6 equals 7
Kitty [74]

Answer:

x = 12

Step-by-step explanation:

"Using the variable x for unknown number what is five more than the quotient of a number and 6 equals 7" translates into  5 + x/6 = 7.

To solve use inverse operations.

5 + \frac{x}{6} = 7\\\\\frac{x}{6} = 2 \\\\ x = 12

HELP PLZ! I do not understand this!!
neonofarm [45]
PART 1
If I have graph f(x) then graph f(x + 1/3) would translate the graph 1/3 to the left.

For example, I have f(x) = x².Then
f(x + 1/3) = (x + 1/3)²

I draw the graph of f(x) = x² and the graph of f(x) =  (x + 1/3)² on cartesian plane to know what's the difference between them.

PART 2
If I have graph f(x) then graph f(x) + 1/3 would translate the graph 1/3 upper.

For example, I have f(x) = x².Then
f(x) + 1/3 = x² + 1/3

I draw the graph of f(x) = x² and the graph of f(x) = x² + 1/3 on cartesian plane to know what's the difference between them.

SUMMARY
f(x+1/3) ⇒⇒ <span>f(x) is translated 1/3 units left.
f(x) + 1/3 </span>⇒⇒ <span>f(x) is translated 1/3 units up.</span>
