1. line up your numbers
2. notice how there is no number above the 9? Imagine a 0 there. You cannot subtract 9 from 0 so you would change the next number over to one less than before (2 to a 1) and carry a ten over to the 0 making it worth ten.
3. subtract 10 from 9 (getting 1)
4. subtract 1 from 0
5. you cannot take 3 away from 9 so you must once again carry a ten. Change the 7 to a 6 and change the 3 to a 13, then subtract 13 from 9
6. subtract 6 from 1
7. you should be left with 5,411. you are going to want to carry down the decimal to make it 5.411
8. you've successfully subtracted decimals
Hope this is helpful! Also this is in a step bye step form :)

The perimeter of a playing field for a certain sport is 174 ft. The field is a rectangle, and the length is 45 ft longer than th
Leno4ka [110]

Answer:

21 ft by 66 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question,

P = 2(L+W)............... Equation 1

Where P = Perimeter of the playing Field, L = Length of the playing Field, W = width of the playing Field.

If the Length of the Field is 45 ft longer than the width,

L = 45+W............ Equation 2

Substitute Equation 2 into equation 1

P = 2(45+W+W)

P = 90+4W............. Equation 3

Given: P = 174 ft.

Substitute into equation 3

174 = 90+4W

4W = 174-90

4W = 84

W = 84/4

W = 21 ft.

Substituting the value of W into equation 2

L = 45+21

L = 66 ft.

Hence the dimensions of the playing field is 21 ft by 66 ft
