We are given:

GH = 60

HI = 42

∠H = 123°

We can use the law of cosines to solve:

GI² = HI² + GH² - 2 * HI * GH * cos ∠H

GI² = 42² + 60² - 2 * 60 * 42 * cos ∠123

GI² = 1,764 + 3,600 - 2 * 60 * 42 * -0.545

GI² = 8,110.8

√GI² = √8,110.8

GI ≈ 90.06

Therefore, the length of GI is approzimately 90.06 units.

Best of Luck!

Answer:

The length of GI is 90 units.

Step-by-step explanation:

You have to use Cosine Rule,

{a}^{2}  =  {b}^{2}  +  {c}^{2}  - 2(b)(c) \cos(A)

Let a = GI units = x units,

Let b = 60 units,

Let c = 42 units,

Let A = 123°,

{x}^{2}  =  {60}^{2}  +  {42}^{2}  - 2(60)(42) \cos(123)

{x}^{2}  = 8108.98

x =  \sqrt{8108.98}

x = 90 \: units \: (3s.f)

determine the equation of the straight line which passes through the point 1 and 5 and is perpendicular to the line 3x + y is eq
xenn [34]

The straight line is perpendicular to y = -3x + 4.

Therefore, the gradient of the straight line must be 3.

The equation of the straight line is y = 3x + 2.

Ends of a diameter: (-9, -16) and (3,0)
lbvjy [14]

Answer:

One example is the equation:

2x + 6 = 4x/2 + 12/2

To solve this, we need to transpose like terms to the same side.

2x - 4x/2 = 12/2 - 6

2x - 2x = 6 - 6

0 = 0

Since both sides are zero, it means that the equation has infinite number of solutions.

PLEASE HELP!!! I need the answer and the work to go along with it.

Check the picture attached.

the secants of the circle, BA and DC, intersect at point P, as shown.

i)
let m(P)=a

ii)
let m(CDA)=b, then the measure of ar CA is 2b, as "the measure of an inscribed angle is half the measure of the arc it intercepts"

iii)
m(DAB)= m(P)+m(CDA)= a+b, as DAB is an exterior angle of the triangle PAD.

iv)
then the measure of arc DB is 2m(DAB)=2(a+b)=2a+2b

v)
m(P)= \frac{(2a+2b)-2b}{2}= \frac{m(DB)-m(CA)}{2}

This is always true,
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In our problem, there is a slight difference, we have 1 secant and one tangent, but it is just a special case and nothing changes.

As an exercise, we can repeat the steps of the general proof, by first joining U and T.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

by the theorem we just proved,

m(R)=(m(TU)-m(SU))/2

30°=(100°-m(SU))/2

60°=100°-m(SU)

m(SU)=40°

Challenge:
bonufazy [111]

The trick here is that both times, part of the weight is soup
and part of the weight is the empty metal can.

1/2 soup + MTcan = 5
1/3 soup + MTcan = 4

Before going any further, it will make it a lot easier later if we change
the fractions in both equations to a common denominator:

1/2 = 3/6
1/3 = 2/6

3/6 soup + 1 MTcan = 5
2/6 soup + 1 MTcan = 4

Subtract the 2nd equation from the 1st one:

1/6 soup = 1

Multiply each side by 6 :    <u>1 soup = 6</u>

Substitute this in the first equation:

             1/2 soup + 1 MTcan = 5

             1/2  ( 6 ) + 1 MTcan = 5

                       3  + 1 MTcan = 5

Subtract 3 from each side:  <u>1 MTcan = 2</u>

The empty can weighs 2.
All the soup it can hold weighs 6.

A full can of soup weighs (2 + 6) = <em><u>8</u></em>
