An island nature preserve brings in 72 NA warblers and 252 SA warblers. Out of the 72 NA birds, 55 have long plumage. Out of the

252 SA warblers, 75 have long plumage. After the birds from the combined populations mate randomly, the island population produces 1000 offspring. Calculate the number of these offspring that are expected to have long plumage. Round the number to two significant figures.

401 of these offspring are expected to have long plumage.

To calculate the number of these offspring that are expected to have long plumage the following cross multiplication calculation must be performed:

  • Total birds = 72 + 252 = 324
  • Long plumage birds = 55 + 75 = 130
  • 324 = 130
  • 1000 = X
  • 1000 x 130/324 = X
  • 130000/324 = X
  • 401.23 = X

Therefore, 401 of these offspring are expected to have long plumage.

Answer:

The correct answer will be option-B

Explanation:

Locus coeruleus is a nucleus composed of neurons in the pons region of the brainstem. The pons and brainstem are involved in the physiological responses of panic and the stress conditions.

Nor-epinephrine is the hormone which is produced in the stress and fear conditions and produces fight or flight response. The nor-epinephrine is produced from the adrenal medulla in the kidney and the brain. The part of the brain involved in the production of Nor-epinephrine is locus coeruleus.

Thus, Option-B is the correct answer.

The theory that is demonstrated by this experiment is natural selection.
Basically, only the strongest bacteria survived, and nature decided which of those bacteria were fit enough to get to live and reproduce in the future. Those bacteria that were "willing" and able to fight their way through a huge number of bacteria were the ones who ultimately won.
