Answer:

7) the environment is hypotonic because it is less concentrated than the inside of the cell

8.)the mass would decrease because the stuff inside the cell (which is more concentrated in comparison) would diffuse across the cell membrane into the environment in order to maintain equilibrium

9.) Diffusion in order to maintain equilibrium (moving things across a barrier from a more concentrated area to a less concentrated area in order to have an equal concentration on each side) does not require energy. However, moving matter out of the cell in Diagram C would require energy because it involves moving mass from a less concentrated area to a more concentrated area.

B. The hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica got bigger.

Explanation:

Using the bar scale in the map, we can vividly see that the hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica got bigger. The reduction in the intensity of the blue color in the 2015 suggests that there has been an appreciable decrease in the ozone cover over Antarctica.

  • Ozone layer is in the stratosphere and it prevents harmful ultraviolet rays from reaching the earth surface.
  • Over the the years, the increasing use of chlorofluorocarbons in aerosols, as refrigerants have led to a surge in the depletion of this layer.
  • From the imagery shown on the map, in 2006, we can vividly see a very thick blue cover over Antarctica.
  • In 2015, the cover is gone.

True or false, most lakes grow larger over time due to erosion?
ipn [44]

Answer: False

A lake is a water body that is surrounded by land. The water in the lake comes from melting glaciers, rain, groundwater, rivers. Lake formation also occurs when a water body is restricted to it's natural flow. Erosion due to wind  and water will limit the life of lake. As, soil removed during landslides or mudslides from hills or mountains get settled as debris at the bottom of lake will cause water pollution. Also, soil coming from agricultural field through water will carry in it fertilizers ,which will promote excessive plant and algal growth in lakes therefore, oxygen content of lake water will decrease which lead to death of animals residing in lake hence, will ultimately lead to water pollution ,which will be responsible for limiting the life of lake.
