If there is an increase in the condensation of chromatin during the process of cell division, there would be: an increase in the formation of heterochromatin.

Cell division can be defined as a biological process through which a living cell changes from a generalized cell type into a specialized cell type, especially for the performance of specific functions or tasks in the body of a living organism.

Basically, the two (2) main types of cell division include the following:

  • Meiosis.
  • Mitosis.

Chromatin is a complex form of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and protein that are typically found in the cells of an eukaryotic organism.

On a related note, chromosome refers to a condensed, visible form of chromatin.

Basically, the condensation of chromatin starts during the prophase (first stage of mitosis) and it then becomes increasingly compact, thereby, leading to the formation of visible chromosomes.

There would be an increase in the formation of heterochromatin when there is an increase in the condensation of chromatin during the process of cellular division.

In conclusion, there occurs an increase in heterochromatin formation if there is an increase in the condensation of chromatin during cellular division.
