  This is a perfect example of Newton’s 3rd law, which states that For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When the boatman pushes against the shore, that was an action, the boat the moving away fro: the shore is an equal/opposite reaction.

  Another example is if someone was dion push-ups, as they puch against the ground, their bodies get propelled upwards. The pushing was an action, and the body moving was a reaction!
