If R is the midpoint of PS, then PR = RS -- (1)

Also, PR + RS = PS -- (2)

__________________

PR + RS = PS

7x + 23 + 13x - 19 = PS

__________________

Now, PR = PS

7x + 23 = 13x - 19

7x - 13x = -19 - 23

-6x = -42

x = -42/-6

x = 7

__________________

PS = 7x + 23 + 13x - 19

PS = 7(7) + 23 + 13(7) - 19

PS = 49 + 23 + 91 - 19

<u>PS </u><u>=</u><u> </u><u>1</u><u>4</u><u>4</u><u> </u>

Hope it helps!

Use the elimination method to solve the system of equations <br><br><br> 2x+3y=8<br><br> x-y=9
babunello [35]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Answer: x = 7 and y = -2

Step-by-step explanation:

2x +3y = 8 ----------------(1)

x-y = 9 ----------------------(2)

multiply (2) by 2

2x-2y = 18--------------------(3)

subtract (2) from (3)

-5y = 10

Divide bothside by -5

y = -2

Similarly, multiply (2) by 3

3x-3y = 27-----------------------(4)

add (1) and (4) together

5x = 35

Divide bothside by 5

x= 7

Therefore, x =7 and y= -2

Given that (-3,1) is on the graph of f(x), find the corresponding point for the function f(x-1)
Helen [10]

Answer:

(-2,1)

Step-by-step explanation:

So we are given f(-3)=1 since the point (-3,1) is on f(x).

We want to use this point to find a point on f(x-1).

Now,

f(-3)=1

and we want

f(x-1)=1

What would x need to be such that x-1 is -3.

x-1=-3

Add 1 on both sides:

x=-3+1

x=-2

x would need to be -2 in f(x-1)=1 in order to use that f(-3)=1.

So (-2,1) is the point for the function f(x-1) that corresponds to the point (-3,1) for f(x).

I know that f(x-1) would only be effecting our input because x-1 is the input.

What is the value of x?
morpeh [17]

Answer:

x = 130

Step-by-step explanation:

The sum of the exterior angles of a polygon is always 360

140 + x + 56+ 34 = 360

Combine like terms

230 +x = 360

Subtract 230 from each side

230+x-230 = 360-230

x =130
