One number is 5 times a first number. A third number is 100 more than the first number. If the sum of the three numbers is 492,
Lena [83]

Answer:

The numbers are 56, 280 and 156

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

x -----> the first number

y ----> the second number

z ----> the third number

we know that

y=5x -----> equation A

z=x+100 ----> equation B

x+y+z=492 ----> equation C

Solve the system of equations by substitution

substitute equation B and equation A in equation C and solve for x

x+5x+x+100=492

7x=492-100

7x=392

x=56

<u><em>Find the value of y</em></u>

y=5x -----> y=5(56)=280

<u><em>Find the value of z</em></u>

z=x+100 ----> z=56+100=156

therefore

The numbers are 56, 280 and 156

How do you find out the measures of angles
diamong [38]
Well we use what we know, that a triangle and a line is equivalent to 180° to find the interior angles of a triangle and possibly use the exterior (s) angles present.

An exterior angle is equivalent to the two most isolated (as in the ones all the way on the other side) interior angles combined.

So this means that m∠Y is equivalent to 138° - 79° which is 59°

Now that we know m∠Y we can find m∠XZY.

How?

Well as I had mentioned earlier a triangle has 180° we can add the two interior angles that we know and subtract it by 180°.

m∠Y and m∠X together is 59° and 79° respectively which is 138°. Now let's subtract it by 180° and get 42°

~~

m∠XZY = 42°

m∠Y = 59°

~~

I hope that helps you out!!

Any more questions, please feel free to ask me and I will gladly help you out!!

For employees at a large company, the mean number of overtime hours worked each week is 9.2 hours with a population standard dev
topjm [15]

Answer:

z=\frac{9.3-9.2}{\frac{1.6}{\sqrt{49}}}= 0.4375

And we can use the normal table and the complement rule we got:

P(z>0.4375)= 1-P(z

Step-by-step explanation:

For this case we have the following parameters given:

\mu = 9.2 , \sigma =1.6

We select a ample size of n=49. And we want to find this probability:

P(\bar X> 9.3)

And for this case is a right tail probability and we can use the z score formula given by:

z=\frac{\bar X -\mu}{\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}}

And replacing we got:

z=\frac{9.3-9.2}{\frac{1.6}{\sqrt{49}}}= 0.4375

And we can use the normal table and the complement rule we got:

P(z>0.4375)= 1-P(z
