Why can’t one of the names be PNM, or MPN for the plane? But MNP can? What’s the difference, and why?
Savatey [412]

The names PNM and MPN are perfectly valid. The order of the letters doesn't matter. In fact, there are 6 ways to name this plane if we just use the 3 letters. If we include "plane Z", then there are 7 total ways to name the plane.

For some reason, your teacher wants P to be the third letter as s/he mentioned MNP and NMP. But again, the order doesn't matter.

Find the probability of getting a 1, 4, or 5 when you roll a standard six-sided die. Give your answer as a simplified fraction.
aivan3 [116]

The first thing to take into account is that the probability of getting any of the six numbers of the dice after rolling it is the same and that probability is 1/6. Here we are being asked about the probability of getting a 1 or a 4 or a 5. In order to find it we need to define which are our favourable cases. Favourable cases are the results we want to get when we roll the dice so getting a 1, a 4 or a 5 are all favourable cases. All the other possible outcomes are unfovourable cases: getting a 2, a 3 or a 6. So we have 3 favourable and 3 unfavourable cases. Adding them we know that the total amount of cases is 6. The probability we are looking for (i'm going to call it P) is given by these quantities I defined:

P=\frac{\text{ favourable cases}}{\text{total amount of cases}}=\frac{3}{6}=\frac{1}{2}

So the probability written as a simplified fraction is 1/2.

Which is the equation of the line that passes through the points (-4, 3) and (2, -6)?
olga55 [171]

Answer:

B) y=-3/2x-3

Step-by-step explanation:

m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

m=(-6-3)/(2-(-4))

m=-9/(2+4)

m=-9/6

simplify

m=-3/2

y-y1=m(x-x1)

y-3=-3/2(x-(-4))

y-3=-3/2(x+4)

y=-3/2x-12/2+3

y=-3/2x-6+3

y=-3/2x-3

There is 18 inches of snow on the ground. Snow is falling at a rate of 4 inches per hour. Write a function to represent the tota
stealth61 [152]

Answer:

f(x) = 4x + 18

Step-by-step explanation:

Since there are 18 inches of snow already, 18 is our constant term in the function. Then, we describe x to be the number of hours that it snows for. We multiply this by 4 to find how many inches of snow fell during those hours. We add this term to the constant term to get the solution to y or f(x)
