The length of the longer ship in terms of number of football fields is;

4 football fields

Let the length of ship 1 be x

Let the length of ship 2 be y

Total length of both ships is 2321 ft

Thus;

x + y = 2321  ----(eq 1)

The difference in their lengths is 17 ft

Thus;

x - y = 17    ----(eq 2)

Add eq 1 to eq 2 to get;

2x = 2338

Thus; x = 2338/2

x = 1169 ft

Put 1169 for x in eq 1 to get;

1169 + y = 2321

y = 2321 - 1169

y = 1152 ft

Longer ship = 1169 ft long

From conversion tables;

1 ft = 1/3 yards

Thus; 1169 ft = 1169 * 1/3 = 389.67 yards

A football field has a length of 100 yards

Then number of football fields for the length of the longer ship = 389.67/100 = 3.8967 ≈ 4 football fields.

In the expression 3x-10 which would be the constant
ArbitrLikvidat [17]

Answer:

-10

Step-by-step explanation:

The constant is the part of the algebraic function or expression that does not change. In this case, as x changes, the constant -10 does not. Thus, -10 is the constant.

I WILL MARK AS BRAINLIEST! Solve for Y
zzz [600]

Answer:

See below.

Step-by-step explanation:

Substitute the value for the variable and solve.

a.)

⇒ y = -5(3) + 17

⇒ y = -15 + 17

⇒ y = 2

b.)

⇒ y = 3(3) - 22

⇒ y = 9 - 22

⇒ y = -13

c.)

⇒ y = 2(3) - 25

⇒ y = 6 - 25

⇒ y = -19

d.)

⇒ y = 6(3) - 39

⇒ y = 18 - 39

⇒ y = -21

Use the Zero Product Property to find the x-intercepts for x^2+6x=y
Semmy [17]

Answer:

x=0\ or\ x =-6

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

x^2+6x=y

Required

Determine the x intercepts

To get the x intercepts, we simply set y to 0

Substitute 0 for y;

x^2+6x=0

Factorize:

x(x +6) = 0

Apply zero product property

x=0\ or\ x + 6 =0

x=0\ or\ x =-6
