We know that all of our cells have an IDENTICAL set of DNA strands. We have learned that what makes them different is which part

of that DNA is expressed (gene expression) and the results of that expression (protein synthesis). This overall concept is called the central dogma. Your job in this C-E-R is to demonstrate your understanding of the importance of this concept.

Answer:

Genes are composed of DNA arranged on chromosomes.

Some genes encode structural or regulatory RNAs. Other genes encode proteins.

Replication copies DNA; transcription uses DNA to make complementary RNAs; translation uses mRNAs to make proteins.

In eukaryotic cells, replication and transcription take place within the nucleus while translation takes place in the cytoplasm.

In prokaryotic cells, replication, transcription, and translation occur in the cytoplasm.

Key Terms

DNA: a biopolymer of deoxyribonucleic acids (a type of nucleic acid) that has four different chemical groups, called bases: adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine

messenger RNA: Messenger RNA (mRNA) is a molecule of RNA that encodes a chemical “blueprint” for a protein product.

protein: any of numerous large, complex naturally-produced molecules composed of one or more long chains of amino acids, in which the amino acid groups are held together by peptide bonds

katen-ka-za [31]

Answer:

A and D

Explanation:

Transfer ribonucleic acid (tRNA) is a type of RNA that decodes mRNA (messenger RNA) into protein. This phenomenon is known as translation.

If the strain of mutant synthetase gene does not grow fast despite having growth characteristics, the following possibilities could happen:

  • Sometimes histidine tRNA sends asparagine instead of histidine to other proteins where histidine residue should have been present for growth.
  • The normal synthetase might be present but not in an adequate amount.

When an environment is hypotonic what happens to the cell?
Inessa [10]

Answer:

Cells placed in a hypotonic solution will take in water across their membrane until both the external solution and the cytosol are isotonic. A cell that does not have a rigid cell wall, such as a red blood cell, will swell and lyse (burst) when placed in a hypotonic solution.

stepladder [879]

Answer:

Answer is Providing evidence - based nursing care.

Explanation:

It should be note noted that, the development of an accumulating body of unique scientific knowledge, which makes it easier to predict the specific nursing interventions that are most likely to produce the expected or desired result, is referred to as the evidence-based practice.

It should be understood that the process of participating in continuing education and mentoring are important and beneficial, but ,they are not considered as the direct manifestation of the scientific basis for nursing.

The evidence-based practice is made possible due to the scientific basis that underlies nursing.
