Suppose a sample of 1537 Americans over 46 is drawn. Of these people, 1245 don't smoke. Using the data, estimate the proportion
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

Answer:

n = 1537 represent the sample size of American over 46

X = 1537-1245=292 represent the number of Americans over 46 who smoke

And for this case in order to estimate the population proportion we can use this formula:

\hat p = \frac{X}{n}

Where:

X represent the number of people with the characteristic desired and n the sample size. If we replace we got:

\hat p = \frac{292}{1537}= 0.190

Step-by-step explanation:

For this case we deine the parameter of interest p as the proportion of Americans over 46 who smoke.

We know the following info provided:

1245 people don't smoke

n = 1537 represent the sample size of American over 46

X = 1537-1245=292 represent the number of Americans over 46 who smoke

And for this case in order to estimate the population proportion we can use this formula:

\hat p = \frac{X}{n}

Where:

X represent the number of people with the characteristic desired and n the sample size. If we replace we got:

\hat p = \frac{292}{1537}= 0.190

Find the percentage change from 50 to 82. Indicate whether it is an increase or a decrease. If necessary, round your answer to t
Dmitrij [34]
Percentage change from 50 to 82, first, let's solve how much is added from 50 to 82.
=> 82 - 50 = 32
Now how many percent is 32 out of 50?
=> 32 / 50 = 0.64
=> 0.64 * 100% = 64%
thus 64% added or increased in the previous number.
