If the RNA is double stranded, a protein called Dicer cleaves the dsRNA to form siRNA (3), small RNA of lenght around 23 nucleotides. Then, the two strands of the siRNA are separated (1). Afterwards, one strand forms the RNA complex that is called RISC (2). The final step is (4); the complex attaches to a duplicate of the strand that was discarded and destroys it

frez [133]

Ocean acidification causes a decrease in the pH concentration of the oceans, mostly arises as a result of the entry of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

A fisherman noticing a shellfish's shell being very small and lack the thick hard shell may be due to Ocean acidification (option A).

  • Ocean acidification is mainly caused by fossil fuels and leads to a decrease in the water's pH.
  • It also causes a reduction in the amount of carbonate, a building block of shells and skeletons in seawater.
  • This makes it very difficult for marine organisms, such as shell fish and corals, to form their shells and skeletons, and those with existing shells may begin to dissolve.

How does natural selection lead to the evolution of a species?
serious [3.7K]

Answer:

One of these is natural selection, which is a process that increases the frequency of advantageous gene variants, called alleles, in a population. Natural selection can result in organisms that are more likely to survive and reproduce and may eventually lead to speciation.
