In the summer a large pool evaporates water at 15% per day. If the pool starts out with 25,700 gallons of water, which function
JulijaS [17]

Answer:

y=25,700(0.85)^{x}

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

In this problem we have a exponential function of the form

y=a(b)^{x}

where

y ----> represent the pool’s loss of water

x ----> the number of days

a is the initial value

a=25,700 gal

b ----> is the base

r=15%=15/100=0.15

b=(1-r)=1-0.15=0.85

The function is equal to

y=25,700(0.85)^{x}

I need help no ilnks please and thank you also please explain how you got the answer
oksian1 [2.3K]

You want to leave a 15% tip on a meal that cost $65.00.

First, convert the 15% to an actual number that can be used in a calculation. For percents,this is always done by simply dividing the percent (in this case 15%) by 100%.So, the conversational term "15%" becomes 15% / 100% = 0.15 in terms of a real mathematical number.

Second, you need to find out what 15% of your $65.00 meal cost is.This is always done by multiplying 0.15 by $65.00, or

0.15 x $65.00=$9.75.

So, the amount of tip you are going to leave is $9.75.

This makes the total cost of your meal (to write on your charge slip or other payment)

$65.00 + $9.75 = $74.75.

One solution, infinitely many solutions, or no solution for #13?
Lady_Fox [76]

Answer:

For this system of equations there is infinitely many solutions.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the equations:  -4x + 4y = 32 and 3x + 24 = 3y, we need to first get them both in standard form (Ax + By = C) in order to complete the method of elimination to solve.  The first equatoin is already in standard form, however, in order to convert the second equation, we will need to use inverse operations to move the '3x' to the other side of the equation by subtraction of this term from both sides:  3x - 3x + 24 = 3y - 3x or 24 = -3x + 3y.  Rearranging the equation gives us:  -3x + 3y = 24.  In order to use elimination to solve, we must first multiply the first equation be a factor of 3 and the second equation by a factor of -4 in order to have opposite coefficients:

3[ -4x + 4y = 32] = -12x + 12y = 96

-4{-3x + 3y = 24] = 12x - 12y = -96

You can see that if we add these too equations together, we get 0 = 0, which indicates that they are both the same line, making our answer infinitely many solutions.
