A boat initially traveling at 10. meters per second accelerates uniformly at the rate of 5.0 meters per second2 for 10. seconds.
guajiro [1.7K]
The initial speed of the boat is v_0=10 m/s
and its acceleration is a=5.0 m/s^2
Since the boat is moving by uniform accelerated motion, the distance covered by the boat in a time t=10 s is given by:
S(t)=v_0 t + \frac{1}{2}at^2 = (10 m/s)(10 s)+ \frac{1}{2}(5m/s^2)(10s)^2 =350 m
So, the boat covers a distance of 350 m in 10 seconds.

An asteroid, whose mass is 3.6 × 10-4 times the mass of Earth, revolves in a circular orbit around the Sun at a distance that is
frosja888 [35]

Answer:

a) 2.02 years

b) 8.1 x 10⁻⁸.

Explanation:

Time period of a rotating body T² is proportional to radius of orbit R³ So

T₁² / T₂² = R₁³ /R₂³ ( T₁ and R₁ is time period and radius of orbit of the earth .)

1² / T₂² =( 1/1.6)³

T₂ = 2.02 years.

Kinetic energy of an orbiting body = 1/2 m v₀² ( v₀ is orbital speed)

= 1/2 m x 2 g R = m x G m/R² X R= m² x G /R

Kinetic energy of asteroid K₁ / kinetic energy of earth K₂ =

(mass of asteroid/mass of earth)² x( radius of earth / radius of asteroid)

=( 3.6 x 10⁻⁴)² x 1/1.6 = 8.1 x 10⁻⁸ .

I am absolutely sure that the statement which best describes the properties of the Indian Ocean tsunami is the first option from the scale : They had a large amplitude and short wavelength. I choose this one because there is main point - the shorter its length, the greater both frequency and energy. Hope it's clear! Regards!

You go rock climbing with a pack that ways 79 N and you reach a height of 30 m. How much work did you do to lift your pack? If y
Vanyuwa [196]
When you climb, earth exerts gravitational force on pack in downward direction(pointing towards the center of earth).
In order to climb, you need to work against work done by gravity on the pack.
Hence work done by you = work done by gravity on pack
                                        = Force x displacement = 70 x 30 = 2100 J.
