I think you would multiply by the denominator 6.5 to isolate the variable.

When you are trying to solve for a variable in an equation you have to do the same operation on both sides. The basic idea/rule is that if you are trying to solve for a variable that is being multiplied by a number you will divide by such number since you are doing the "reverse" operation. With that said, we say that if the variable is being divided by a number both sides have to be multiplied by such number. In this case, the variable x is being divided by 6.5, so you have to multiply both sides by 6.5 to get the following
\frac{x}{6.5}  = 4 \\ 6.5\times \frac{x}{6.5}  = 4 \times 6.5 \\ x = 26

I'd start by writing an equation for each of the right triangles. (Pythagorean theorem)

y² + 9² = z²
x² + z² = (4+9)²
4² + y² = x²

we want to find z so combine the equations by substituting the other variables x,y out.

substitute y² for (x² - 4²) in 1st equation.

(x² - 4²) + 9² = z²

now by rearranging the 2nd equation we can substitute x² for (13² - z²)

(13² - z²) - 4² + 9² = z²
169 - z² - 16 + 81 = z²
234 - z² = z²
234 = 2z²
234/2 = z²
117 = z²
√(117) = z
√(9*13) = z
3√(13) = z

13 goes in the box

A trapezoid has an area of 329 square feet. If the bases are 30 feet and 17 feet, what is the height of the trapezoid in feet? F
ExtremeBDS [4]

Answer:

The correct option is C.  14 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

To calculate the height, we will follow the steps below;

Formula is given to be:  h = 2A / b1 +b2

where h = height of the trapezoid   b1 and b2 are the bases of the trapezoid    and A is the area of the trapezoid

From the question given;

Area A =329 feet²      b1 = 30 feet    b2 =17 feet

We can now proceed to insert the values into the formula

h = 2A / b1 +b2

h= 2(329)  / 30 + 17

h = 658 /47

h=14 feet
