While John is traveling along a straight interstate highway, he notices that the mile marker reads 252 km. John travels until he

reaches the 134 km marker and then retraces his path to the 163 km marker. What is John’s resultant displacement from the 252 km marker? Answer in units of km.

Answer:

total distance is  147 km

and john displacement is = 89 km

Explanation:

given data

mile marker = 252 km

reach = 134 km

retrace path = 163 km

to find out

resultant displacement

solution

we know here john travel from 252 km mark

and he reach at 134 km

so he travel distance part1 = 252 - 134

distance d1 = 252 - 134 = 118 km    ..............1

and

then he start travel from 134 km mark upto 163 km mark

so distance travel in part 2 is

distance d2 = 163 - 134 = 29 km    ....................2

so total distance is 118 + 29 = 147 km

and john displacement is = 252 - 163 = 89 km

Which scenario describes the damage caused by a tornado?
9966 [12]

The answer is a path of destruction up to 50 miles long with destroyed trees and homes.

Tornadoes form from severe thunderstorms. Wind in the higher altitude of the storm moving at a greater velocity than wind at a lower altitude creates a vertical wind shear. The faster-moving winds aloft come from the west and create an updraft when they meet slower-moving wind close to the ground that is moving in the opposite direction. As warm surface air moves upward into the thundercloud, the rotating air creates a vortex.

The image below shows before and after damage of a tornado.

An electronic balance shows the mass of a sample of sodium chloride to be 29.732 g. what is the uncertainty of the measurement
OLEGan [10]

The uncertainty of the measurement is 0.001 gm.

The uncertainty in the measurement of a physical quantity is given as how precisely we can measure that, in this case as we can see that the mass of the sodium chloride is precisely given as 29.732 gm, this means the electronic scale is precise to 0.001 gm and round of the values after that which means there is a uncertainty of 0.001 gm.

At a given instant in time, two cars are traveling at different velocities, one twice as large as the other. Based on this infor
Sati [7]

Answer: No, is not possible.

Explanation:

We have two cars traveling at different velocities, one with velocity v and other with velocity 2*v

We want to know of it is possible to say which of these two cars has the larger acceleration at this instant of time.

Acceleration is the rate of change of the velocity, for example, if acceleration = 0, the velocity does not change.

Notice that knowing only the velocity at a given instant of time, we do not have any way of knowing the acceleration of each car.

Such that acceleration is given by the second Newton's equation:

F = m*a

force equals mass times acceleration.

We do not know any of these quantities for the cars, so we can not say anything about the accelerations.

We also could know the average acceleration if we know the change in velocity over an interval of time, such that:

Av acceleration = (change in velocity)/(interval of time)

But here we do not have a change in velocity, so again, we can't say anything about the acceleration.
