Answer:

Reaction: Al2(SO4)3 + 3BaCl2 --> 2AlCl3 + 3BaSO4

Type: Double Replacement

Explanation:

1.) First you need to understand what the different reactions are

a.) Synthesis: is a reaction where two or more substances will combine with each other to make one product.

          Ex:  A + B → AB

b.) Decomposition: when one compound breaks down into two or more substances. (Opposite of synthesis)

          Ex:  AB → A + B

c.) Single Replacement: when one element replaces another one in a reaction

          Ex:  A + BC → AC + B

d.) Double Replacement: when the positively charged cations and negatively charged anions of the reactants trade places. Normally this will be the two outer elements combining and the two inner ones combining.

Ex: AB + CD →  AD + CB

e.) Combustion: when a substance reacts with oxygen gas and releases energy as light and heat.

         Ex: CH4(g) + 2 O2(g) → CO2(g) + 2 H2O(g)

2.) From there you can write out the formula of the different reactants and products and balance the equation.

Answer:

(4) Water, stirring, and filtering

Explanation:

The added water will dissolve the sugar but not the sand. When you filter the mixture, the sand will be trapped in the filter paper and the dissolved sugar will pass through the pores of the paper.

(1) and (2) are wrong. You don't separate a mixture of sugar and sand by adding more sand. Furthermore, neither substance will boil at 100 °C.

(3) is wrong. You can dissolve the sugar in water but, if you boil the water away, the sugar and sand will still be together.

In chemistry, some changes are reversible and some are irreversible, explain.
Aliun [14]
The denaturing of proteins is irreversible. For example, eggs cannot be unboiled. Other reactions, such as the formation of carbonic acid, are reversible.

Based on the recipe for the Dextrose Calcium Carbonate (DCC) medium, what is the percent concentration (%weight/volume) of dextr
yanalaym [24]

<u>Answer:</u> The percent concentration ( % m/v) of dextrose in the solution is 2 %

<u>Explanation:</u>

We are given:

Mass of Yeast Extract = 5.0 grams

Mass of K_2HPO_4 = 1.0 grams

Mass of MgSO_4 = 0.5 grams

Mass of Dextrose = 20.0 grams

Mass of CaCO_3 = 10. grams

Mass of Agar = 18.0 grams

Volume of solution = 1 L = 1000 mL      (Conversion factor: 1 L = 1000 mL)

% (m/v) is defined as the concentration, which is mass of solute present in 100 mL of solution

To calculate the mass of solute, we apply unitary method:

In 1000 mL of solution, the mass of dextrose present is 20.0 grams

So, in 100 mL of solution, the mass of dextrose present will be = \frac{20.0}{1000}\times 100=2g

Calculating the % (m/v) of dextrose, we get:

\% \text{(m/v) of dextrose}=\frac{\text{Mass of dextrose}}{\text{Volume of solution}}\times 100\\\\\% \text{(m/v) of dextrose}=\frac{2g}{100mL}\times 100=2\%

Hence, the percent concentration ( % m/v) of dextrose in the solution is 2 %
