Let's solve

\\ \sf\longmapsto 2x^2+7x-15=0

\\ \sf\longmapsto x=\dfrac{-7\pm\sqrt{7^2-4(2)(-15)}}{2(2)}

\\ \sf\longmapsto x=\dfrac{-7\pm\sqrt{169}}{4}

\\ \sf\longmapsto x=\dfrac{-7\pm13}{4}

\\ \sf\longmapsto x=\dfrac{-7+13}{4}\:or \:\dfrac{-7-13}{4}

\\ \sf\longmapsto x=\dfrac{6}{4}\:or\:\dfrac{-20}{4}

\\ \sf\longmapsto x=\dfrac{3}{2}\:or -5

Subtract

\\ \sf\longmapsto 3/2-(-5)=3/2+5=13/2

Identify the graph of 4x^2+5y^2=20 for T(5,-6) and write an equation of the translated or rotated graph in general form. (pictur
NikAS [45]

Answer:

b. ellipse; 4x^2+5y^2-40x+60y+260=0

Step-by-step explanation:

The graph of 4x^2+5y^2=20 an ellipse because the coefficients of the quadratic terms are not the same.

This ellipse is centered at the origin. If this ellipse is translated  so that its center is now at (5,-6).

Then the translated ellipse will now have equation.

4(x-5)^2+5(y+6)^2=20

We expand to get;

4(x^2-10x+25)+5(y^2+12y+36)=20

4x^2-40x+100+5y^2+60y+180=20

4x^2+5y^2-40x+60y+100+180-20=0

4x^2+5y^2-40x+60y+260=0

Can someone please help me
Temka [501]

What matters is the base for the exponentiation to tell if its increasing or decreasing.  Among positive numbers, smaller than 1 means decreasing, bigger than one means increasing.  That's because for each increase of 1 in x we get another factor of the base.  If it's bigger than 1 that's growth.

There are no negative bases here, but it's similar -- less than -1 (bigger in absolute value) grows, even though it oscillates back and fourth between positive and negative.

It's blurry but I see bases of 3, .6, .74, 1.3

3: growth

.6: decay

.74: decay

1.3: growth
