The definition of a rate in math is, the speed of something being gained in a problem, let's say we have a hot pipe that can full up a pool in 6 hours, our rate would be 1/6 of the pool per hour.

cross multiply:

(-10x +1125)*7 =(2x+495)*13

-70x + 7875 = 26x + 6435

we group similar terms:

7875 -6435 = 26x+70x

1440 = 96x

x= 1440/96

x= 15
