Question 5
Temka [501]

Answer:

B = \frac{31.5}{5.25}= 6

H = 18-6= 12

So then Mark purchased 12 Hamburgers and 6 packages of buns

Step-by-step explanation:

For this case we can define the following notation:

B represent the number of packages buns

H represent the number of hamburgers

And from the information given we can set up the conditions into the following equations:

6.75 H +1.50 B =90  (1) represent the total cost

H +B =18 (2) represent the total number of items

Solving H from equation (2) we got:

H = 18 -B   (3)

And replacing equation (3) into equation (1) we got:

6.75 (18-B) +1.5 B =90

And dsitributing the terms we have:

121.5 -6.75 B +1.5 B =90

And solving for B we got:

121.5-90 = 5.25 B

And dividing by 5.25 we got:

B = \frac{31.5}{5.25}= 6

And replacing the value of B into equation (3) we got:

H = 18-6= 12

So then Mark purchased 12 Hamburgers and 6 packages of buns

Do the law of order and the law of grouping apply to subtraction?
emmasim [6.3K]

Since we know that law of order states that sum or product of any two specific numbers will be same irrespective to their order. a+b=b+a and a*b=b*a .

Law of order is only applicable for addition and multiplication. It is not applicable to subtraction and division. Let us see it by an example.

50-25\neq25-50

25\neq-25

Law of grouping states that it does not matter how to order a group of numbers while adding or multiplying. a+(b+c)=(a+b)+c and a*(b*c)=(a*b)*c.

Law of grouping is not applicable to subtraction and division. Let us see it by an example.

15-(5-3)\neq(15-5)-3

15-(2)\neq(10)-3

13\neq7

Therefore, we can see that law of order and law of grouping is not applicable to subtraction.

Find a polynomial with the following zeros.

HELPPPP ASAPPP
Pavlova-9 [17]

Answer:

x³ - 4x² + 2x + 4 = 0

Here's how I solved this:

You start off by rewriting the zeros into factors:

1 - √3    →    x = 1 - √3    →    (x - 1 - √3)

  2        →    x = 2           →    (x - 2)

1 + √3   →    x = 1 + √3   →    (x - 1 + √3)

Now you want to multiply the factors together:

     (x - 1 - √3) · (x - 2) · (x - 1 + √3)

- Multiply the first two factors together -

                (x - 1 - √3) · (x - 2)

                              ↓

    (x · x - x · 2 - √3 · x + √3 · 2 - x + 2)

    - Combine like terms and simplify -

    (x · x - x · 2 - √3 · x + √3 · 2 - x + 2)

                              ↓

          (x² - 3x - √3 · x + 2√3 + 2)

       - Now multiply the third factor -

   (x² - 3x - √3 · x + 2√3 + 2)(x - 1 + √3)

                              ↓

(x² · x + x² · √3 - x² - 3x · x - 3x · √3 + 3x - √3 · xx - √3 · x · √3 +√3 · x + 2 · √3 · x + 2 · √3 · √3 - 2 · √3 + 2x + 2 · √3 - 2)

                              ↓

(x³ + x² · √3 - x² - 3x² - 3x · √3 + 3x - √3 + 3x - √3 * x² - x · 3 + √3 · x + 2 · √3 · x + 2 · 3 - 2 × √3 + 2x + 2 √3 - 2)

    - Combine like terms and simplify -

(x³ + x² · √3 - x² - 3x² - 3x · √3 + 3x - √3 + 3x - √3 * x² - x · 3 + √3 · x + 2 · √3 · x + 2 · 3 - 2 × √3 + 2x + 2 √3 - 2)

                              ↓

                 x³ - 4x² + 2x + 4

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And there we get our solution: x³ - 4x² + 2x + 4

To get enough money to go on a field trip every student in a club has to raise 53$ by selling chocolate bars there are 9 student
Misha Larkins [42]

Answer:

The club needs to raise $477 to go on an the field trip.

Step-by-step explanation:

Each student in the club has to raise $53 by selling chocolate bars.

There are 9 students in the club.

Now for finding the total money raised by all 9 students, we just need to multiply $53 by 9.

So, the total money raised =\$53\times 9= \$477

Thus, the club needs to raise $477 to go on an the field trip.
