You wash dishes for a chemistry laboratory to make extra money for laundry. You earn 12 dollars/ hour, and each shift lasts 75 m

inutes. Your laundry requires 12 quarters/load.
How many loads of laundry will each shift pay for if the cost per load rises to 16 quarters?

Please do explain in simple terms and equations. I suck at math, thank you!

Answer:  3.75 per shift

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The amount earned by laundry = 12 dollars / hour

Since 1 dollar = 4 quarters.

Then, amount earned per hour=4\times12=48 quarters per hour.

    [By unitary method]

The time period for each shift = 75 minutes

Since 1 hour = 60 minutes

Then , 1 minute =\dfrac{1}{60} hours     [By unitary method]

Now, 75 minutes =75\times\dfrac{1}{60}=1.25 hours

Now, the total amount earned from each shift will be:-

1.25\times48=60 quarters

Now , the cost of laundry= 12 quarters/load

The cost of load after increment = 16 quarters

Then, the number of loads can be washed :-

\dfrac{\text{Total amount earned from each shift}}{\text{Cost of load after increment}}\\\\=\dfrac{60}{16}=3.75

Hence, number of loads of laundry = 3.75 per shift

Find the area of circle having circumference 8π^2.
Dmitriy789 [7]

Answer:

496.6

Step-by-step explanation:

circumference of circle=8pie^2

2*pie*r=8*pie^2

2*r=8*pie

2r=8*22/7

r=176/7÷2

r=12.57

Area of circle=pie*r^2

=22/7*12.57^2

=22/7*158

=496.6

Question 3
Ymorist [56]

To write an equation to represent a given information, the equations are to

expresses the information conveyed in the situation.

The two equations that represent the given information are;

  • <u>x + y = 25</u>
  • <u>5.6·x + 4·y = 133.6</u>

Reasons:

The given information are;

Mass of the large boxes = 5.6 kg

Mass of the small boxes = 4 kg

Number of boxes delivered = 25 boxes

Total mass of the boxes delivered = 133.6 kg

Number of the 5.6 kg box delivered = x

Number of the 4 kg boxes delivered = y

Required:

To form two equations in terms of <em>x</em> and <em>y</em> to represent the situation.

Solution:

The two equations are;

  • The number of boxes delivered = <u>x + y </u><u>= 25</u>
  • Total weight of the boxes delivered = <u>5.6·x + 4·y </u><u>= 133.6</u>

<em>Solving the above equations with a graphing calculator gives;</em>

  • <em>x = 21, y = 4</em>
