1 cm = (10 × 10^10)pm
Therefore;
 the unit length of the cell is equivalent to 3.923 × 10^-8 cm
The volume  of the cubic cell is given by (length)³
 = (3.923×10^-8)³
 = 6.0375 × 10^-23 cm³
Density is calculated by dividing mass with the volume
The atomic mass of platinum 195.064 g/mol ,
Therefore,
The average mass of one atom is; (Avogadro's constant = 6.0×10^23 particles)
        195.064 ÷ 6.022 × 10^23 atoms/mol
           = 3.239 × 10^-22 g/atom
The mass of the 4 platinum atoms in the face centered cubic unit cell:
  (3.239 × 10^-22) × 4 = 129.56× 10^-23 g/unit cell
Therefore;
 Density = (129.56× 10^-23)÷(6.0375 ×10^-23)
                                   = 21.459 g/cm³

Suppose a piece of silver jewelry contains 7.49x10^22 atoms of silver (Ag). how many moles of silver are in the jewelry?
zalisa [80]

Answer:

0.124 mol Ag

General Formulas and Concepts:

<u>Atomic Structure</u>

  • Moles

<u>Stoichiometry</u>

  • Using Dimensional Analysis

Explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define</u>

[Given] 7.49 × 10²² atoms Ag

[Solve] mol Ag

<u>Step 2: Identify Conversions</u>

Avogadro's Number - 6.022 × 10²³ atoms, molecules, formula units, etc.

<u>Step 3: Convert</u>

  1. [DA] Set up:                                                                                                    \displaystyle 7.49 \cdot 10^{22} \ atoms \ Ag(\frac{1 \ mol \ Ag}{6.022 \cdot 10^{23} \ atoms \ Ag})
  2. [DA] Divide [Cancel out units]:                                                                       \displaystyle 0.124377 \ mol \ Ag

<u>Step 4: Check</u>

<em>Follow sig fig rules and round. We are given 3 sig figs.</em>

0.124377 mol Ag ≈ 0.124 mol Ag

Which of the following an inorganic compound?
oksano4ka [1.4K]
An organic compound is one which consists of a chain of carbon atoms with other atoms bonded to the chain.

Pentane has 5 carbon atoms with surrounding hydrogens.
glucose is a chain of 6 carbon atoms
butane is similar to pentane

water has no carbon atoms, and the central atom is oxygen ---> therefore it is inorganic!
