Zane performs the elementary row operation represented by R2-½R1 on matrix A.
UkoKoshka [18]

Answer:

[2 5 0]

[-7 -11/2 12]

Step-by-step explanation:

We want to perform elementary row operation represented by R2 - ½R1 on matrix A in the figure attached.

Now, matrix A is given as;

[2 5 0]

[-6 -3 12]

Now, R1 is row 1 = [2 5 0]

R2 is row 2 = [-6 -3 12]

Thus, R2 - ½R1 = [-6 -3 12] - ½[2 5 0]

This gives;

[-6 -3 12] - [1 5/2 0] = [-7 -11/2 12]

Now,[-7 -11/2 12] will be the new row 2 since it's just an elementary row operation we did on the Matrix A.

Thus, the new matrix is now;

[2 5 0]

[-7 -11/2 12]

Question 9

For this question, you work out the areas of the different shapes - the two triangles and the large rectangle.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To get the area of the rectangle, you must use a ruler to measure out the:
 height of the shape and the base of the shape

(try to be as accurate as possible when measuring)

Then to get the area of the rectangle, multiply the Height by the Base.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the triangles, you measure the out the base and the height .
Then you use the formula for the area of a triangle, which is:

Height x Base x \frac{1}{2}

So, you measure out the base and height of one triangle, then use the formula to work out the area,    then you do the same for the second triangle.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally, you add up all of the areas:

Total area = area of rectangle + area of first triangle +area of second triangle

then you choose the option that is closest to your answer <span>(remember to be accurate with the ruler!)

Question 10<span>

</span>Lets say we wanted to know how much 10 bottles of water cost

To do this, we would multiply the number of water bottles we want (which is 10)  by how much one water bottle costs.<span>

</span>Lets say one water bottle costs £1.
We would multiply the £2   by 10 (which is the number of water bottles)

So 10 water bottles would cost :   £2 x 10 = <span>£20
</span>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now lets apply this knowledge to the question:

The <u>ANSWER </u>would be:
G) multiplying n by the cost of one bottle

To get the total total cost, we multiply the number of bottles we buy by the cost of one bottle
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question 11

For this one, we are told that the company charges $40 for hooking a vehicle.
We are also told that they charge $1.70 for each mile  the vehicle is towed.

Therefore the <u>ANSWER </u>would be;

B)
c = 40 + 1.70m

$1.70m   means   $1.70   times the number of miles, and we are told that they charge 1.70 for every mile.

Quadrilateral ABCD is similar to Quadrilateral EFGH. Diagonal AC has length 7 and diagonal EG has length 13. What is the scale f
olasank [31]

Answer:

\large \boxed{\text{A. }\dfrac{13}{7}\text{; B. }\dfrac{17}{14} \text{; C. 507 in}^{2}}

Step-by-step explanation:

A. Scale factor

When you dilate an object by a scale factor, you multiply its line lengths by the same number.

If EF/AB = 13/7, the scale factor is 13/7.

B. Length of EF

\begin{array}{rcl}\dfrac{EF}{AB} & = & \dfrac{13}{7}\\\\\dfrac{EF}{\frac{17}{26}} & = & \dfrac{13}{7}\\\\EF & = & \dfrac{13}{7}\times\dfrac{17}{26}\\\\ & = &\dfrac{1}{7}\times\dfrac{17}{2}\\\\ & = & \mathbf{\dfrac{17}{14}}\\\end{array}\\\text{The length of EF is $\large \boxed{\mathbf{ \dfrac{17}{14}}}$}

C. Area of EFGH

If the lengths in a shape are all multiplied by a scale factor, then the areas will be multiplied by the scale factor squared.

ABCD is dilated by a scale factor of 13/7, so its area is dilated by a scale factor of

\left(\dfrac{13}{7} \right)^{2} = \dfrac{169}{49}

The area of its dilated image EFGH is

\text{Area of EFGH} = \text{147 in}^{2} \times \dfrac{\text{169}}{\text{49}} = 3 \times 169\text{ in}^{2} = 507 \text{ in}^{2}\\\\\text{The area of EFGH is $\large \boxed{\textbf{507 in}^{\mathbf{2}}}$}

What is the value of z?<br><br> Enter your answer in the box.
Georgia [21]

Answer:

23

Step-by-step explanation:

Because the angles of a triangle always add up to 180°, you can set up an equation like this.

62+95+z=180

157+z=180

157-157+z=180-157

z=23

Solving the following system using the elimination of substitution method.<br> 5a+3b=11<br> -2a+3=b
PSYCHO15rus [73]

Answer:

a = -2

b = 7

Step-by-step explanation:

5a+3b=11

-2a+3=b

substitute for b:

5a + 3(-2a + 3) = 11

5a -6a + 9 = 11

-a = 2

a = -2

b = 7
