Amelia Earhart was an American aviator back in the mid to late 1930s. She was the first person to fly solo across the Pacific Ocean. In 1937 Amelia wanted to be the first person EVER to fly around the world. Sadly she died as so her co-pilot during that trip. In my own personal opinion she is an icon.

</span><span>✦ Worked in dangerous conditions. Machines were used during this time and they weren't as safe as ours today. Children would hurt themselves when working with these machines. Some of them even lost body parts such as their finger or hand.
