The fight against diseases in Ancient Egypt had a religious connotation, as a mixture of empirical and magical dimensions. In this sense, it can be said that the theoretical system of Egyptian medicine was religious and medical practices were performed almost exclusively by priests. In this scenario, illnesses were associated with fortune, and illness was seen as punishment from the gods or related to matters of spirits.

Ancient Egyptians learned a lot about human anatomy thanks to the mother tradition. In preparing the dead for their journey to the afterlife, he could analyze the parts of the body and associate them with the diseases that the person contracted in life.

This may be enough of the matter for surgeries, signs of the can be found from which mummies understand from a removal of surgeries.

In the Ebers Papyrus, one of the oldest known medical treatises, there are several recipes for fillers and balms. One describes how to treat a "tooth that itches all the way to the skin opening": one part cumin, one part frankincense resin and one part fruit.

Chinese Medicine

In traditional Chinese medicine, ancient masters taught that disease is a change in the body's functions or wear and tear, caused by external factors such as cold, heat, humidity, emotional, nutritional factors or aging. Through acupuncture it would be possible to recover health.

Archaeological finds from the Shang dynasty (1766-1123 BC) even included primitive acupuncture instruments and turtle shells and bones, on which discussions of medical pathology were recorded.

The Charaka Samhita, compiled approximately 400 BC, is the oldest text on Ayurveda. Traditional Indian medicine treats the human being as a whole, rebalancing the body through massages, herbs and routine adaptation.

Ayurveda is a complete and holistic health system. In other words, it acts on all areas related to human health and addresses an integral view of it. Like any health system, it aims at the state of “homeostasis”, that is, dynamic balance of the human being, where he can fully manifest his potential, feeling well-being. Ayurveda is the science of life, it seeks to promote and maintain quality of life and longevity. She deals with nature, the purpose of life and includes metaphysical and physical aspects.
