<h3>Answer: True</h3>

=======================================================

Explanation:

The absolute maximum is the largest y output of a function. Visually, it is always located at the highest point on the curve. It appears that y = 2 is the absolute maximum because of the highest point (3,2). However, this is an open hole which is <u>not</u> part of the graph. Think of the curve like a road, and the open hole is a pothole you can't drive over.

Since (3,2) is not part of the graph, this means we can't reach y = 2 itself. We can get closer and closer to 2 from the underside, but that's about it. So this is why this graph does not have an absolute maximum. The absolute minimum doesn't exist either for similar reasoning.

Put another way, let's say we could claim there is an absolute max and the claim is that it's y = 1.999; the problem with this statement is that we can get closer to 2 by claiming the absolute max is y = 1.9999, and then we can get closer at y = 1.99999 and so on. We'll never be able to reach 2 itself.

Therefore, the claim "the function has no absolute maximum" is true.

A total of 8 representatives need to be chosen from a group of 40 students, of which 24 are female and 16 are male. In how many
Diano4ka-milaya [45]

Answer:

Probability = 0.0147

Step-by-step explanation:

To find this, we need to know the number of ways the representatives can be picked overall, and then the number of ways 3 females and 3 males can be the representatives. The fraction of the two will be the probability.

The total number of ways the representatives can be picked is the combination of a pool of 40 students and choosing 8 is; C(40,8) = 40!/((8!)(40 - 12)!)

= 76904685

We have gotten the number of ways the representatives can be picked.

Now let's find how many ways can the jury consist of 3 females and 3 males

For the males, there are 16 in the pool and we're picking 3:

Thus, C(16,3) = 16!/((3!)(16 - 3)!) = 560

For the females, there are 24 in the pool and we're picking 3:

Thus, C(24,3) = 24!/((3!)(24 - 3)!) = 2024

Thus, number of men and women choices = 2024 x 560 = 1133440

So; probability = 1133440/76904685 = 0.0147
