there are three rectangles in the shape

the first one on the left has length = 7 cm and width = 3 cm.

so area = l × w

= 7×3

=21 cm^2

the one in the middle has length = 4 cm and width = (7- 3) => 4cm

so area = 4 × 4

the last one to the right is identical to the first, so area = 21 cm^2

The combined area = 21 + 16 + 21

= 58 cm^2
