a sealed container filled with argon gas at 35 c has a pressure of 832 torr. if the volume of the container is decreased by a fa
lesya692 [45]

Answer:

If the volume of the container is decreased by a factor of 2 the pressure is is increased by the same factor to 1664 torr.

Explanation:

Here we have Boyle's law which states that, at constant temperature, the volume of a given mass of gas is inversely proportional to its pressure

V ∝ 1/P or V₁·P₁ = V₂·P₂

Where:

V₁ = Initial volume

V₂ = Final volume = V₁/2

P₁ = Initial pressure = 832 torr

P₂ = Final pressure  = Required

From V₁·P₁ = V₂·P₂ we have,

P₂ = V₁·P₁/V₂ = V₁·P₁/(V₁/2)

P₂  = 2·V₁·P₁/V₁ = 2·P₁ = 2× 832 torr = 1664 torr

Write a one or two summary paragraph discussing determining density
Oksana_A [137]

Density is the measure of a material's mass per unit volume, used in many aspects of science, engineering and industry. Density can be calculated by dividing an object's mass by its volume. Since different materials have different densities, measuring an object's density can help determine which materials are in it. Finding the density of a metal sample can help to determine its purity.When measuring liquids and regularly shaped solids, mass and volume can be discovered by direct measurement and these two measurements can then be used to determine density. Using a pan balance, determine and record the mass of an object in grams. Using a vernier caliper or ruler, measure the length, depth and width of the object in centimeters. Multiply these three measurements to find the volume in cubic centimeters. Divide the object's mass by its volume to determine its density. Density is expressed in grams per cubic centimeter or grams per milliliter.

How many particles are in 7.07x10^-6 moles of a substance?
Butoxors [25]

Answer:

4.25*10^18

Explanation:

1 mole =6.023*10^23 particles

so 7.07*10^-6 mole=6.023*10^23*7.07*10^-6 particles=4.25*10^18 particles

True or false: the Molecules in a solid have MORE thermal energy than the molecules in a gas?
katrin2010 [14]

That's false. Because, the molecules in a solid are compacted too tightly together that they don't have all that extra space that a gas would. Molecules in a gas would have more thermal energy because they have all that space to move around in. The more they move around, the hotter it gets. The less that they move around, and the more that they put and packed together, the colder it's going to be.

Hope this helped you!! (:
