       -12   +12

        5y : 4y

3x-12=5y ---> (1)

2x+12=4y ---> (2)

12x-48=20y

10x+60=20y

12x-48=10x+60

12x-10x=48+60

           = 108

2x=108

x=54

Original number of athletes on Team A = 3(54)

                                                                  = 162

Original number of athletes on Team B = 2(54)

                                                                    = 108
