pH is an indicator of how acidic or basic a substance is. The pH scale ranges from 0 - 14, with 7 representing neutral. Acids ha

ve a pH below 7; bases, a pH greater than 7. Scientists determine the pH of a substance by using an indicator; indicators change color depending on the pH of a substance. Different indicators work at different pH ranges, as seen in the table above. The transition range of an indicator is the range of pH when the indicator changes from its low-pH color to its high-pH color. If the indicator shows a color between the two, then the pH lies somewhere in that transition range. Student groups are given an unknown liquid to test using the four indicators. One group conducts the tests and records these results. Color Changes - pH Indicators Indicator Used Color Produced Methyl violet Bluish Bromophenol blue Yellow Phenolphthalein Colorless Thymolphthalein Colorless Compare the table of indicator values with the student data. Select ALL the statements that apply to the liquid tested.

You have:

 A1= 0.15 m²
 A2=6.0 m²
 F1=130.0 N

 To solve this problem you must use the pressure formula, as below:

 P1=P2
 F1/A1=F2/A2

 Then, you have:

 m2=A2xF1/A1xg

 g=9.81 m/s² (This is the acceleration of gravity)

 When you substitute the values in m2=A2xF1/A1xg, you obtain:

 m2=(0.60 m² x 130.0 N)/(0.15 m² x 9.81 m/s²)

 The answer is:

 m2=530 Kg

A system dissipates 12 J of heat into the surroundings; meanwhile, 28 J of work is done on the system. What is the change of the
timurjin [86]

Answer:

option C

Explanation:

given,

energy dissipated by the system to the surrounding = 12 J

Work done on the system = 28 J

change in internal energy of the system

Δ U = Q - W

system losses energy = - 12 J

work done = -28 J

Δ U = Q - W

Δ U = -12 -(-28)

Δ U = 16 J

hence, the correct answer is option C

A car of mass 1100kg moves at 24 m/s. What is the braking force needed to bring the car to a halt in 2.0 seconds? N
LenaWriter [7]

13200N

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Mass = 1100kg

Velocity = 24m/s

time = 2s

unknown:

Braking force = ?

Solution:

The braking force is the force needed to stop the car from moving.

   Force  =  ma = \frac{mv}{t}

  m is the mass of the car

  v is the velocity

  t is the time taken

  Force = \frac{1100 x 24}{2} = 13200N

A rope is tied to a box and used to pull the box 2.3 m along a horizontal floor. The rope makes an angle of 30∘ with the horizon
Savatey [412]

Answer:

Answered

Explanation:

A) The work done by gravity is zero because displacement and the gravitational force are perpendicular to each other.

W= FS cosθ

θ= 90 ⇒cos90 = 0 ⇒W= 0

B) work done by tension

W= Tcosθ×S= 5cos30×2.30= 10J

C) Work done by friction force

W= f×s=1×2.30= 2.30 J

D) Work done by normal force is Zero because the displacement and the normal force are perpendicular to each other.

E) The net work done= Work done by tension in the rope - frictional work

=10-2.30= 7.7 J

How will you describe the motion of an object in a balanced and unbalanced<br>state? ASAP
gogolik [260]

Answer:

Objects move according to their net force, or the total amount of force acting on them. Balanced forces are just that, balanced. An object with balanced forces will not move because the opposing forces will cancel each other out. However, if there are unbalanced forces, the object will move in accordance with the force that is greater. When moving though, there is always friction. Whether you be underwater, on the ground, or in the air there is always friction on the Earth. (Besides vacuums, of course.)

Force is equal to mass x acceleration.

With that you can find the forces of the object if you know its mass and acceleration.

Explanation:

The motion of an object can be described in many ways, including path, speed, velocity, and acceleration.
