Sarah buys 4 first class tickets ad 9 coach tickets For the trip.

Equation

Equation is an expression which is used to show the relationship between two or more variables and numbers.

Let x represent the number of first class ticket and y represent the boxes of coach tickets

Sarah a total of 13 people took the trip. Hence:

  • x + y = 13 (1)

She used her total budget which was $10,970. Hence:

  • 380x - 1050y = 10970 (2)

Solving equations 1 and 2 simultaneously gives:

x = 4, y = 9

Sarah buys 4 first class tickets ad 9 coach tickets For the trip.

Given the equation 9x+3/4 y=6 and 2x+1/2 y=9, by what factor would you multiply the second equation to eliminate y and solve the
anyanavicka [17]
To eliminate a cariable in a system of equations, we multiply the variable by a factor that will make both coefficients of the variable to be equal.
Thus, we multiply the coefficient of y in the second equation by a factor that will make it equal to the coefficient of y in the first equation. i.e. multiply 1/2 by a factor that makes it equal to 3/4. and the factor is 3/2.
Therefore, the third option is the correct answer.

Find the value of r so the line that passes through each pair of points has the given slope.
padilas [110]

Answer:

- 4

Step-by-step explanation:

( 3 - r ) / ( 1 + 5) = 7/6

\frac{3-r}{1+5} = \frac{7}{6} ⇒ 3 - r = 7 ⇒ r = - 4
