DNA is indeed a genetic material but not the "only genetic material" as in retroviruses it is the RNA which carry the genetic information and whatever there inside a cell in all organisms as well as even in the environment of the cell in multicellular organisms, are as important as DNA. There are cells which survive and are functionally viable for several days without having any genetic material like mature erythrocytes.
