<u>To</u><u> Find</u><u> </u><u>:</u><u>-</u>

  • The equivalent expression that represents the cost .

<u>Solution</u><u> </u><u>:</u><u>-</u>

Here according to the question ,

\longrightarrow Cost \ of \ each \ crackers \ = \ c

And , she purchases ,

\longrightarrow \textit{ boxes of cheese crackers = 6 } \\\\\longrightarrow\textit{ boxes of poppy's seed crackers = 5 }\\\\\longrightarrow \textit{ boxes of plain crackers = 5 }

And she represents cost by ,

\longrightarrow Cost = 6c + 5c + 5c

To find equivalent , take out c as common ,

\longrightarrow Cost = c (6+5+5)

Add the constant terms inside the brackets ,

\longrightarrow Cost = c \times 16

Multiply ,

\longrightarrow \underline{\underline{Cost = 16c }}

<u>Hence</u><u> the</u><u> </u><u>equivalent</u><u> </u><u>expression</u><u> </u><u>is </u><u>1</u><u>6</u><u>c</u><u> </u><u>.</u>

How do you do this problem ?
miskamm [114]

You could do all of the work with the multiplying, but what I think it wants you to see is that you can divide like numbers by subtracting exponents.

so if we did that we would get (-2^{2})(-3^3)(-5^1)

this in turn would give us 4 x -9 x -5 = 180
