Population is the big one. The British colonies in North America had around 2 million people, as opposed to the around 60 thousand in the French colonies.
The development of the colonial government occurred as follows:
<span>The colonies first were allowed limited self-government as set out by the Imperialist Rulers eg Great Britain. The American colonies were far away from Great Britain so it created a safe distance for the colonist to learn how to govern themselves. The English tried to control Amerian trade, but the coastline was far too long for the English to police successfully. Colonial merchants soon started operating outside English law. In summary, the colonial government was expected to operate within the British models of government. The British believed that the colonies existed to enrich Great Britain. </span>

1- WW2 allowed conscientious objectors which meant not all the men had to fight. They needed more soldiers so women were allowed to join the military. During WW1 the women left behind did the jobs traditionally made for men, which proved that they had the ability to do jobs men did, so they were allowed to fight in WW2.
3- Women in the military showed that women were capable of 'men's jobs', so their traditional gender roles were not upheld so strictly after WW2. It showed that they too were capable of all the things men were, meaning they were treated with more respect.
