If all were children, revenue would be 700*$7 = $4900. Revenue is actually $6400 -4900 = $1500 more than that. Each adult admission that replaces a child's admission adds $10 -7 = $3 to the revenue, so there must have been
  $1500/$3 = 500 . . . . adult admissions

There were 200 children at the show.
There were 500 adults at ths show.

Hello!

You can make two expressions based on what you know

let x stand for the amount of children
let y stand for the amount of adults

x + y = 700
7x + 10y = 6400

You can multiply the first equation by 10 to be able to use elimination

10x + 10y = 700
7x + 10y = 6400

Subtract the two equations from each other

3x = 600

Divide both sides by 3

x = 200

Put x into one of the original equations to get y

200 + y = 700

Subtract 200 from both sides

y = 500

The answers are 200 children and 500 adults

Hope this helps!

Jon bought a printer for $189 and a set of printer cartridges for $192. Sales tax on these items was 6.5%. What is Jon's total b
julia-pushkina [17]
So first we need to find the total before tax. Let's add up the two prices:

189+192=381

So we know that the total before tax is $381. Now we are told that the sales tax on these items is 6.5%. It would be easier for us to convert 6.5% to a decimal in order to multiply. Let's convert 6.5% to a decimal by dividing by 100:

\frac{6.5}{100}=0.065

Now that we have the sales tax in decimal form, let's multiply this sales tax by the total amount of the items before tax ($381):

381*0.065=24.77

This means that $24.77 is the tax for this purchase. To find the total amount that Jon paid for these items after tax, you must add the tax to the total amount before tax to give you:

381+24.77=405.77

So now we know that Jon's total bill for these items is $405.77.

The domain of a function is the set of input or argument values for which the function is real and defined.

So, for the given function to be defined, we need to find the possible values for which the values of x makes the square root to be positive.

That is;

-9 -5x ≥ 0

Now, let's solve for x

Add 9 to both-side of the equation

-5x ≥ 9

Divide both-side by -5

x ≤ -9/5

Therefore, the domain of the function can be represented in interval notation as: ( - ∞ , -9/5]
