The foci of the hyperbola are (11,-7) and (1, -7).

Given

The equation of a hyperbola is;

\rm \dfrac{(x-6)^2}{16}-\dfrac{(y+7)^2}{9}= 1

<h3>What is the standard equation of hyperbola?</h3>

The standard equation of a horizontal hyperbola with center (h, k) is;

\rm \dfrac{(x-h)^2}{a^2} -\dfrac{(y-k)^2}{b^2}=1

The focus will be (h ± c, k) where c² = a²+b².

On comparing with the standard equation of hyperbola the value of a is 4 and b is 3.

The value of h is 6 and k is -7.

Then,

\rm c^2=a^2+b^2\\\\c^2 = 16+9\\\\c^2 =25\\\\c =5

Therefore,

The foci of the hyperbola are;

\rm h+c= 6+5=11\\\\h-c=6-5=1\\\\k=-7

Hence, the foci of the hyperbola are (11,-7) and (1, -7).

Rzqust [24]

Answer:

x = -1/2 ( 3±sqrt(37))

Step-by-step explanation:

x^2 + 3x − 7 = 0

Add 7 to each side

x^2 + 3x =7

Using complete the square

Taking the coefficient of x

3

Divide by 2

3/2

Square it

(3/2)^2 = 9/4

Add this to each side

x^2 + 3x+ 9/4 = 7+9/4

( x+ 3/2) ^2 = 28/4 + 9/4

( x+ 3/2) ^2 = 37/4

Take the square root of each side

x+3/2 = ±sqrt(37/4)

x+3/2 = ±sqrt(37) / sqrt(4)

x+ 3/2 = ±sqrt(37) / 2

Subtract 3/2 from each side

x = -3/2 ±sqrt(37) / 2

x = -1/2 ( 3±sqrt(37))

zzz [600]

<u>Answer:</u>

Carpet costs = 300£

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

• First calculate the area of the floor:

Area of floor = length x width

                     = 5m² x 3m²

                     = 15m²

• As one m² of carpet costs £20, 15m² of carpet costs:

15 x 20

= 300£

40 kg of tomatoes cost $200 how many kilograms of tomato’s can you get with $45
Roman55 [17]

Answer:

9 kg of tomatoes

Step-by-step explanation:

Cost of 40 kg of tomatoes = $200

Cost of 1 kg of tomatoes = 200/40 = $5

For $45, we get x kg of tomatoes,

kg       $

1          5

x         45

=> 45*1/5 = x kg (by cross multiplication)

=> 45/5 = x kg

We get 9 kg of tomatoes for $45.

Hope you understood!

You have $975.00 and 20% is taken. How much do you have left?
12345 [234]

Answer:

780

Step-by-step explanation:

For this we have to find the 20% of $975.00

= 20% of 975

= 20/100 (975)  (Removing percentage sign gives us 100)

= 0.2 (975)

= 195 (that's the 20% of 975 which is taken)

NOW,

Subtract 195 and 975 to find the remaining amount

= 975 - 195
