Answer:

As a model for representing fractions, the number line differs from other models (e.g., sets, regions) in several important ways. First, a length represents the unit, and the number line model suggests not only iteration of the unit but also simultaneous subdivisions of all iterated units. That is, the number line can be treated as a ruler.

Let point L be between M and N on MN. Given that MN=31, ML= h-15 and LN = 2h-8. Find LN
MrRa [10]

Since the distance of MN is 31 and we have a distance of ML of h -15 and LN of 2h – 8, therefore

ML + LN = h -15 + 2h – 8 = 31

 h = 18

substituting the value of h to the expression for LN obtaining

LN = 2h – 8

LN = 2(18) – 8

LN = 28

Therefore the length of the segment LN is 28 units

There are two red jars of marbles and one blue jar of marbles jars of a certain color have the same number of marbles in them. T
satela [25.4K]
We can set up an equation to solve this problem.  I am setting the number of marbles in a red jar to R.

R + R + R - 16 = 41

We solve this by adding 16 to both sides and combining all of the R terms..  This gives us:

3R = 57

We can finish this problem by dividing both sides by 3.

R = 19.  So, there are 19 marbles in a red jar.

We can easily figure out how many marbles are in a blue jar by subtracting the total amount of marbles in 2 red jars from the total amount of marbles.  I am setting the amount of marbles in a blue jar to B.

41 - 19*2 = B

B = 3

So, there are 3 marbles in a blue jar and 19 marbles in a red jar.
