How are atoms related to balancing a chemical equation?

Chemistry

Atoms are related to balancing equations because the amount of atoms on the left of the equation (reactants) needs to be the same amount on the right (products).

For example, 2H₂ + O₂ → 2H₂O

If you count the amount of hydrogen atoms on both sides each, there would be 4 (make sure to multiply the coefficient by the subscripts).

If you count the amount of oxygen atoms on both sides each, there will be 2 of them (2 in a molecule of oxygen)

I hope this helps and please mark me as brainliest!

Suppose 650.mmol of electrons must be transported from one side of an electrochemical cell to another in 10.0 minutes. Calculate
Alina [70]

Answer:

The size of electric current must 104.5 Ampere.

Explanation:

Moles of electrons = 650 mmol = 650\times 0.001 mol

mmol = 0.001 mol

1 mol =N_A=6.022\times 10^{23} atoms/ions

Number of electrons = N

N = 650\times 0.001\times 6.022\times 10^{23}=3.9143\times 10^{23}

Charge on an electron = 1.602\times 10^{-19} C

Total charge on N electrons = Q

Q=3.9143\times 10^{23}\times 1.602\times 10^{-19} C=62,707.086 C

Duration of time = T = 10 min = 10 × 60 s

1 minute = 60 seconds

Current(I)=\frac{Charge(Q)}{Time(T)}

I=\frac{62,707.086 C}{10\times 60 s}=104.5 A

The size of electric current must 104.5 Ampere.

0.378g grams of a compound is made up of 0.273g of Mg and 0.105g nitrogen. Find its empirical formula.
Harrizon [31]

Answer:

The empirical formula of the compound is Mg_3N_2.

Explanation:

Mass of magnesium in compound = 0.273 g

Mass of nitrogen in the compound = 0.105 g

Moles of magnesium =\frac{0.273 g}{24.305 g/mol}=0.0112 mol

Moles of nitrogen = \frac{0.105 g}{14.0067 g/mol}=0.00750 mol

Form empirical formula divides the lowest value of moles of an element present with all the moles of elements present.

Magnesium =\frac{0.0112 mol}{0.00750 mol}=1.5

Nitrogen =\frac{0.00750mol}{0.00750 mol}=1

The empirical formula of a compound:

Mg_{1.5}N_1=Mg_{\frac{15}{10}}N_1=Mg_{15}N_{10}=Mg_3N_2

The empirical formula of the compound is Mg_3N_2.
