Answer:

EITHER x = 7

OR x = 14.5

Step-by-step explanation:

When you have parallel lines and there's a third line crossing them, that makes 8 angles. 4 of these angles are ALL THE SAME MEASURE. and the other 4 angles are another number, but also ALL THE SAME MEASURE. And the two numbers add up to 180.

We kind of need to know where in the lay out of all 8 angles where are the ones you are working on. Because they are either the SAME VALUE or THEY ADD UP TO 180°

If they are the same, you set them equal to each other:

7x - 4 = 5x + 10

Subtract 5x

2x - 4 = 10

Add 4

2x = 14

Divide by 2

x = 7

OR

They add up to 180°

7x - 4 + 5x + 10 = 180

Combine like terms

12x + 6 = 180

Subtract 6

12x = 174

Divide by 12

x = 174/12 = 14.5

Solve.<br> x – 6 = –14<br> a. –20<br> b. 20<br> c. 8<br> d. –8
Nataliya [291]
If you would like to solve the equation x - 6 = - 14, you can calculate this using the following steps:

x - 6 = - 14
x = - 14 + 6
x = - 8

The correct result would be d. - 8.

An elliptical culvert is 3.5 feet tall and 6 feet wide. It is filled with water to a depth of 0.95 feet. Find the width of the s
maks197457 [2]

Answer:

W_s \approx5.3

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question we are told that

Height H=3.5ft

Weight W= 6ft

Depth  D=0.95ft

Generally the equation for ellipses is given as

\frac{x^2}{a^2} +\frac{y^2}{b^2} =1

Where

b=H/2\\b=3.5/2\\Therefore\\b=1.75\\a=W/2\\a=6/2\\Therefore\\a=3\\

\frac{x^2}{3^2} +\frac{y^2}{1.75^2} =1

Generally to find y in the equation \frac{x^2}{a^2} +\frac{y^2}{b^2} =1

y=-b+d

y=-1.75+0.95

y=-0.8

Therefore

\frac{x^2}{3^2} +\frac{(0.8)^2}{1.75^2} =1

\frac{x^2}{3^2} =1-\frac{(0.8)^2}{1.75^2}

\frac{x^2}{3^2} =1-0.2089795918

X^2 =3^2(1-0.2089795918)

X^2 =7.119183674

X =\sqrt{7.119183674}

X =2.66817984

Therefore the width of the given stream is

W_s=2.66817984*2

W_s=5.33635968

W_s \approx5.3

What is the opposite sides of a parallelogram
ICE Princess25 [194]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Example:  Suppose you have a rectangle of length 8 and width 6.  This figure is also a parallelogram.  There are two sides that are of length 6; these are the "opposite sides" of the parallelogram.  There are two sides that are of length 8; these are also "opposite sides" of the parallelogram.
