Answer:

x = 6 , -1/3

Step-by-step explanation:

Use foil method

(3x -2)(x + 1) = 3x*x + 3x*1 + (-2)*x + (-2)*1

                   = 3x² + <u>3x - 2x</u> - 2   {Combine like terms}

                    =3x² + x - 2

(3x -2)(x + 1) = 18x + 4

3x² + x -2 = 18x + 4

Subtract 18x  to both sides

3x² + x - 18x - 2 = 4

3x² - 17x - 2    = 4

Subtract 4 from both sides

3x² - 17x -2 -4 = 0

3x² - 17x - 6 = 0

Sum = -17

Product = (-6)*3 = -18

Factors = 1 , (-18)                 {1*(-18)=-18  ; 1 +(-18) = -17}

3x² - 18x + x - 6 = 0

3x(x - 6) + (x -6) = 0

(x - 6)(3x + 1) = 0

x - 6 = 0          ; 3x + 1 = 0

   x =  6          ;         3x = -1

                                  x = -1/3

x = 6 , (-1/3)

Answer:

Domain: {1, 2, 3, 4}

Step-by-step explanation:

The domain of the graph (input values) is the number of pizzas which are plotted on the x-axis while the range (output values) is the cost of pizza, plotted on the y-axis (vertical axis)

The domain therefore would consists of each x-coordinate that represent each point on the graph, which are {1, 2, 3, 4}

Answer:

Option A:

y = 3*(x - 5)^2 - 4

Step-by-step explanation:

For a quadratic equation:

y = a*x^2 + b*x + c

with the vertex (h, k), we can rewrite the function as:

such that:

h = -b/2*a

y = a*(x - h)^2 + k

Here we have the function:

y = 3*x^2 - 30*x + 71

the x-value of the vertex will be:

h = -(-30)/(2*3) = 30/6 = 5

And k is given by:

k = y(5) = 3*(5)^2 - 30*5 + 71 = -4

Then the vertex is:

(5, - 4)

And we can rewrite the equation in the vertex form as:

y = 3*(x - 5)^2 + (-4)

y = 3*(x - 5)^2 - 4

Then the correct option is A.

Below are two different functions, f(x) and g(x). What can be determined about their y-intercepts?
Irina-Kira [14]

Answer:

f(x) has y-intercept at (0,-1). g(x) is unknown since inputs (x) are missing int he table.

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x) has the equation y = 4x - 1 which is y = mx + b. This form has the y-intercept directly in the equation as b. So b = -1.

g(x) has no input values in the table. The y -intercept is located where x = 0. Since there are no input values, the y-intercept can not be found without more information.
